NEW FUNDING FOR STUDENTS AND COLLEGES

SNP MSP Stewart Maxwell has welcomed the announcement by Finance Secretary John Swinney today of an additional £11.4 million for Scotland’s colleges to fund student support.

SCOTLAND NEEDS BROADCASTING POWERS

Stewart Maxwell MSP has reissued calls for Scotland to have broadcasting powers after the BBC’s national governor for Scotland said the country was poorly served by the corporation.

Quoted in the Scotsman, former head of BBC Jeremy Peat said the “case for more and more production out of London remains and the pressure for increased devolution of programming must continue”.

ROBSLEE PRIMARY SUCCESS IN EUROPEAN ART CONTEST

West Scotland MSP Stewart Maxwell paid a visit this week to Robslee Primary School in Thornliebank to present prizes to winning pupils who took part in a European-wide school drawing competition.

The school was nominated by Stewart Maxwell to represent Scotland in an art competition involving primary schools from across Europe including Ireland, Poland, Slovakia and Belgium.
